Quake was released in 1996. Could a game over a decade old still be any good? You bet.

Quake Live allows you to play through your browser using a plugin. They do have Mac and Linux support as well, though in my experience the Linux version crashed and was a bit slow. This could be because of the drivers or lack of for my card.
